Attention New York Wine Professionals: Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Barrel + New Release Trade Tasting

Join the wineries of the Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition as they tap the barrels, uncork new releases, and share gems from the cellar. Register here.

Engage with award-winning Legacy winemakers and owners, and sample Hudson Valley-grown Cabernet Francs from both sides of the historic river, including barrel tastes, new releases, rosés, and vintage flights.

A special tasting includes Cabernet Franc wines produced from experimental grapes grown during a clonal and rootstock trial at the Hudson Valley Research Laboratory in Highland, NY. The trial investigated differences in the characteristics of wines made from four Cabernet Franc clones grown on three different rootstocks. These limited wines are bottled to share with the trade.

Experience the Hudson Valley’s signature grape at Milea Estate Vineyard with expansive views of the Valley east of the Hudson River, on Tuesday, May 24th, from 2 PM-4 PM.

Attention Virginia Cider Professionals: The Virginia Cider Ed Road Show

The American Cider Association is holding four educational sessions in Virginia during the first week of June 2022 to educate cider professionals “about the diversity and versatility of Virginia hard ciders”. I will be attending the session at Lost Boy Cider and hope our Virginia members can allocate time to attend one of the sessions. Here is the info from the ACA:

“The American Cider Association (ACA) is hitting the road to partner with Virginia cideries and chefs to teach food and beverage professionals about the diversity and versatility of Virginia hard ciders. Each workshop will be tailored to the cidery and city where it’s taking place with a focus on exploring ciders made with Virginia grown apples, crafting trendy cider cocktails, and mastering delicious cider pairings. Jennie Dorsey, a Certified Pommier and the Cider Education Outreach Manager for the ACA, will be leading the cider learning, tasting and pairing experiences.
Are you a current food and beverage professional? Or an up and coming professional in the food and beverage scene? Do you happen to live in Virginia or nearby? Come join us at one of these four free workshops we’ll be offering throughout Virginia. These workshops are being provided thanks to a grant from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service.”

Lost Boy Cider (Alexandria Virginia) June 6th: 5-7 PM
Potters Craft Cider (Charlottesville Virginia) June 7th: 4-6 PM
Fall Line Richmond Marriot (Richmond Virginia) June 8th: tbd

BevFluencer To Know!
Swirl Suite, a podcast and YouTube channel started by four influential wine professionals. Sarita Cheaves (Vine Me Up), Leslie Frelow (Vino 301), Glynis Hill (Vino Noire), and Tanisha Townsend (Girl Meets Glass) each have their own channels and businesses but in 2014 joined forces to launch the Swirl Suite channel. These ladies definitely have the cred due to multiple WSET certifications, consulting, judging, and hosting consumer tours.  With each Swirl Suite episode the team interviews wine or lifestyle professionals from wine-makers, other influencers, authors, restaurant owners, and many others.
The episodes are always informative, entertaining (specifically their signature Random and Rapid segment), and professionally recorded as Sarita completed a 6-week certified production course at public access corporation DCTV.  The four ladies dial in from various locations, and when Tanisha joins, we receive updates about living in Paris. (Go back to the spring and summer 2020 episodes to hear about living in Paris during COVID lockdowns.)  Or go all the way back to Swirl Suite – Drinking Local with @WineAntics. The BevFluence Team encourages our members to subscribe to this podcast in order to deepen their appreciation of wine and also to add a smile.
