 s considered America’s oldest native grape. It was first cultivated in R
 ichmond\, Virginia\, by Dr. Daniel Norborne Norton in the early 19th centu
 ry. Norton is a cross between Vitis aestivalis and Vitis vinifera. Norton 
 is valued for its hardiness and resistance to various diseases and pests\,
  including phylloxera. This makes it a versatile and reliable grape for wi
 nemakers in diverse climates. Norton wines are known for their ability to 
 age well\, with some varieties capable of aging for over two decades. They
  pair well with grilled meats\, lamb\, venison\, smoked pork\, pasta with 
 red sauce\, blue cheese\, aged sharp cheddar\, and dark chocolate desserts
 .
