Nestled in the heart of downtown San Antonio, just steps from the iconic Alamo, 115 Broadway stands as a testament to Texas heritage. Originally part of the Maverick family homestead, this historic building now houses Maverick Whiskey, blending rich history with modern craftsmanship.
The land at 115 Broadway was once part of the Maverick family’s estate, reflecting the pioneering spirit of Sam Maverick, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. His legacy continues through the distillery that now occupies this storied location.
Constructed in 1918, the building originally served as the Lockwood National Bank. Designed by the renowned Hoggson Brothers of New York and Chicago, with E.E. Dimon overseeing construction, the structure embodies Greek-Doric architectural style, earning it the moniker “Greek temple of commerce.” The bank was notable for its security measures, including a vault transported from New York and armed tellers, ensuring the safety of its patrons’ assets.
